Many language schools offer additional activities i.e. English + Scuba Diving otherwise the destinations in our portfolio can certainly accommodate most of your sport needs. Other interesting aspects are the school's facilities i.e. library, cafe, wireless Internet and typical student origin. To find out specific information about a language school please see the school profile by choosing a specific course. If additional information is still needed then please contact the school directly.
LanguageOnSale focuses on last-minute language courses therefore it cannot guarantee that the following courses will be available at any given time.
This is the most common course. It normally consists of 4 lectures of group training per day. It gives the student a fundamental base within the following focus areas: speaking, writing, reading and listening. Standard courses are suitable for students that want to learn the language in a general context and on the same time have plenty of opportunity to experience what else the city has to offer.
The intensive course includes an additional number of lectures compared to the standard. The main focus is on improving conversation skills. This type of course is most favourable for students who want to excel in linguistics as fast as possible and still receive group training. Keep in mind that the increase in number of lectures and homework load can be quite demanding.
This course is specifically designed to help the student pass exams where the result is an internationally recognised diploma or certificate e.g. D.E.L.E. The focus is mainly on past exam papers and the test exams are completed under realistic circumstances. The courses start at specific dates counted back from the exam dates.
The diplomas are often a prerequisite for studying at a foreign university or to prove your linguistic level. These examination courses are recommended to the student that needs a diploma. Further, long term students are also advised to enrol to an examination preparation course if the goal is to maintain a study focus.
This special kind of course takes the student out of the school and accommodates him/her inside a professional teacher's private house. This provides a great opportunity to learn the language efficiently and simultaneously the culture. You will participate fully in your teacher's social and family life and will not have contact with speakers of your own language. This option is suitable for mature students that want to experience the daily life of a local and learn the language more pragmatically.
Individual or one-to-one courses are extremely efficient due to the constant feedback from the teacher, but also the most expensive type of courses. The student has the possibility to tailor the lectures. Students who want to learn the language as fast as possible but as opposed to living with a teacher, want another accommodation type are ideal for this course.
Prior knowledge of the language is recommended for business course. It is suitable for students who want to achieve a specific skill within business correspondence, holding presentations or telephone conversation training. There will typically focus on vocabulary enhancement for the student's specific profession.
This category is a mixture of an individual and a standard group course. It is not as intense as the individual course but it is also less expensive. It can be very rewarding to combine these two course types. You will instantly have a social network with peers but also individual courses where all your questions can be patiently and thoroughly answered.
LanguageOnSale is specialized in offering last-minute language courses at heavily reduced price. However, we can only offer a course if the language school has one available at the last moment. This is why we cannot predict the starting dates. There are some repetitive courses but we cannot guarantee that they will be available on your date
Private accommodation gives you a unique chance to witness firsthand the way of life of the city you are visiting. You can be fortunate to receive hints and recommendations that cannot be offered in any guidebooks and simultaneously practice your language skills. Homestay is a term that covers living with couples with or without children or even singles. A thorough inspection of all homestays is conducted. Still, the experience can vary quite a lot due to immeasurable parameters such as chemistry between you and the host. In case your accommodation is unsatisfactory do not hesitate to report it to the school. The language school will do their best to try to find a solution. Living in private accommodations is the most inexpensive and popular choice and it is highly recommended by all the language schools.
Many language schools rent out apartments for students near the school. Usually you share the bathroom and kitchen with about 3-6 other language students. This type of accommodation gives you more independence and freedom than the previous one and more contact with the other students. You will always be able to find people to spend the spare time with. The potential downside with this type of accommodation is that the students often speak the most convenient language after the lessons. Unfortunately, this is sometimes not the language they pay for to improve. The youth language travel programs we offer try to compensate for that by placing students from different nationalities in the same apartment. Shared apartments often have at least one local resident.
Hotel rooms are the most luxury type of accommodation and they are normally situated close to the school. The costs of these rooms are much higher than in host families or shared apartments/student residences. Short-period students that only focus on improving the language skills prefer them. Socializing and getting to know the culture has often a lower priority.
Pay attention to what services are included in the course price. Additional costs for study material, meal and other needs, can raise your costs quite a bit. Also make sure you compare the entire price including course and accommodation price, visa (if necessary), flight ticket and living costs for that country.
It is worth investigating whether or not you can gain credits for the language course. Some American universities provide this possibility for their students. Naturally, the language schools need to have a valid course for that.
Once you have decided to do a language course abroad, you need to contact your programme organiser and the international office at your university. They will be able to inform you about which criteria you need to meet in order to gain the credits. These criteria vary from university to university. Depending on the syllabus specifications from your university, the target language school may need up to an additional 4 weeks for preparation after your registration. Unfortunately, this means that gaining credits for a last-minute language course can be difficult to obtain. However, if your university approves the language school's current syllabus, the process will be significantly faster. Contact the language school directly in order to find out what the current syllabus is. At the end of your language course, you will be tested. The result of your test will be reported back to your university in the US in the required form. Please ensure in correspondence with your university and the language school that all the mailing information and the format of the result is correct before the test.
Please see study abroad FAQ for further information. The current page and FAQ should provide all the information needed to book the most suitable course for you to Travel and Learn. However, since it is last minute not everybody has time to read through them. You are always welcome to contact LanguageOnSale.
